Quilted Christmas Tree Pillows
Fall 2019. Next on my list of Christmas gifts to make were these super cute Christmas tree pillows!
This was my first time trying paper piecing and it was definitely a learning experience! I had actually worked on four of these pillows, but only 2 turned out to be gift-worthy.
I used the same fabric line that the pattern designer used for her pillows because it is a beautiful line of fabric and I loved that these pillows could be left out throughout the winter because it’s not a traditional Christmas color scheme.
The pattern was super neat because as you made it, the tree started to look like it was woven together!
There was so much heavy piecing in these that they already had a quilted look to them, so I decided to just spray baste a piece of batting to the back of the pillow top and sew it together with the pillow back. I wanted to use batting on it for stability and it give it a clean finish. Since these are decorative pillows, they won’t be washed a ton and should hold up well!
For the backs, I made zippered pillow backs.
These pillows actually ended up being January gifts, but the recipients didn't mind!
Finished January 11, 2020. Pattern: Christmas Tree Paper Pieced by Jitka Design. Fabrics used are Return to Winter’s Lane by Kate and Birdie, Kona Snow, and a scrap of Kona Brown leftover from the fox quilt.
