Final Quilt Along Status Report for 2022

What Did I Work on In December?

I finished piecing the most challenging quilt I've ever attempted! In this photo, I was "auditioning" corner pieces to see which color I liked best! I picked the cream one and put the last 4 corners on the quilt!

This is the Montana quilt pattern by Edyta Sitar of Laundry Basket Quilts. It’s a stunning pattern and it was fun to see it take shape! The fabrics are from her Noel line.

I've picked a backing and it is in line to be quilted! I think I know what design I’m going to choose, but I haven’t fully settled on one.

All in all, I didn’t keep up with all of the sew alongs that I set out to do, but, I still had fun quilting and now I have even longer to enjoy those quilt alongs! :)

I did recently pull out my Heirloom Hearts quilt along again to start working on it again! I pressed what I think are about a million nine patches and now I’m sewing a straight line along the edge of each of the nine patches to help the 2 edge seams hold together while I put them into bigger blocks.

The nine patches were made by strip piecing and the cutting apart units that are then sewed to one another, so there are seams that aren’t back-stitched like I like to sew my seams. The straight line I’m sewing will keep those seams from splitting apart. The other side that is prone to splitting will be sewn to a background piece, so it will be held together by that seam.

As I pulled out this project again, I got really excited to be pulling it back out because it’s such a cute quilt pattern and I love my fabric choices, so it’s a win-win to be working on it again!

The Heirloom Hearts Quilt pattern is by Brittany of Lo & Behold Stitchery.

Thanks for following along!
