Quilt Along Status Report: March 1, 2022

Are you curious how those many quilt alongs are going? Things ended up a little bit different from what I planned!

Heirloom Hearts Quilt Along

It turns out that deciding to make a queen-sized quilt during a quilt along is ambitious! My Heirloom Hearts quilt is on the backburner for now. I have all of the heart blocks pieced and all of the chain squares made. I still need to press the chain squares, but for now I’m switching to other quilt alongs.

I did decide to change from making a queen-sized quilt to two lap size quilts and maybe a bed runner? We shall see! Don’t worry, I haven’t given up on this quilt!

Rose In Bloom Quilt Along

I’m happy to say I’ve begun the Rose in Bloom quilt along - finally! Yesterday, I starched all of my fabrics and began cutting them into the chunks I need for each block. I also got block 1 almost completely cut out!! Making major headway over here! I still love these fabrics and I’m so excited to finally dig into them!

Also, this is my first experience with a Fat Quarter Shop It’s Sew Emma pattern and it’s fabulous!! The cutting instructions are written so that you cut your fabrics into chunks for each block (ex: a 10” square of this or that fabric) then you subcut from there. I love it! With patterns that are written out by block, I’m always afraid that I’m going to run out of fabric. With the pattern written in this way, I’m able to cut all my fabric into chunks by block and know I’ll have what I need!! After running into some issues with the Stitch Pink quilt I did, this is so nice! I’ll be looking for an excuse to use and It’s Sew Emma published pattern again!

Heartfelt Charity Quilt Along

The Heartfelt Charity quilt along is the last current quilt along on my plate. I’ll begin starching fabrics as soon as I’m caught up with the Rose In Bloom Quilt along!

What are my plans for this month?

My hope this month is to get caught up with the Rose In Bloom and Heartfelt quilt alongs. I have another quilt that I need to get started on (not quilt along related) so hopefully I start sewing on it this month!
